"Scottish Jewelry... 'Saltire' Scottish Ring... The Scotland Flag..."

Frequently Asked Questions

The 'Saltire' range of exquisite rings are not cheap pieces of jewelry. They are not manufactured 'off the rack', but are extremely high quality jewelry items made by expert and professional master jewellers. We want to ensure when you place an order for your magnificent Saltire Ring, you can feel confident and assured that you are receiving the quality you are paying for.

Please also read our Terms and Conditions for further details.

How can I be sure that the gemstones used are genuine?

Throughout the development of our products, we have refrained from using synthetic stones in all of our jewelry pieces. Although this alternative would be easier to produce, more cost effective and also allow for near exact pieces, we felt it was important to provide a complete range that used genuine gemstones.

As the Scottish flag is blue in color, this meant we needed to use blue stones such as blue sapphires, blue topaz, tanzanite and lapis lazuli. For the white cross of the flag, we have used white diamonds, white sapphires and white gold where applicable. Please visit the American Gem Trade Association website for further information on gemstone characterisitics and colors.

You will find your jeweller will be very impressed with the quality and workmanship of your ring, and that upon any valuation process they may undertake, the advertised stones are indeed genuine.

Do all the rings in a category look the same?

As we are using genuine gemstones for all of our pieces, it is impossible for any two rings to look exactly the same. Therefore, you can be assured that every ClanTime piece is a 'one of a kind' and that your ring will be unique and exclusive to any other Saltire Ring that has been produced.

Can I have a different weight carat of gold in my ring?

Yes. For all pieces using gold, we are able to manufacture in different gold weights. If you intend on wearing your ring predominately for special occasions, an 18 carat gold ring would be very suitable. If you intend wearing your ring on a regular basis, it is recommended you order a ring with 9 carat gold which is harder wearing and won't scratch or dent as easily.

When placing your order, our order form allows you to make a choice of the different carat weights of gold.

How do I ensure I order the correct size?

It is important to ensure you order the correct ring size. Every jeweller should have a ring sizing tool where you can determine your correct finger size before ordering. You can also use our page on ring sizing as a guide.

What happens if I order the incorrect ring size?

ClanTime guarantees to supply the correct size of ring based on the order placed.

For the Saltire 'Heirloom' and 'Dress' pieces, due to the complexity of the face it is recommended that your ring is returned to us so our specialist jeweller can adjust the ring accordingly. If you wish to have the ring resized by your own jeweller, we recommend you seek a jeweller who specialises in high quality pieces.

For other pieces in the range, your ring should easily be able to be resized 2 sizes in either direction.

What happens once I place an order?

Once we receive your order and clearance of funds, manufacture of your ring begins immediately. As we don't hold any stock, every ring is manufactured to order and this process takes approximately 3 weeks. Once your ring is made and we are content it passes our quality assurance, it is then securely packaged, insured and shipped to your nominated address.

If you order a ring for a special occasion, we recommend allowing at least 4 weeks between order placement and order delivery.

How long after my order is placed will I receive my ring?

The Saltire 'Heirloom' and 'Dress' rings are quite complex pieces of jewelry. Due to the fact we are having genuine gemstones cut and set in such a complex arrangement, it is important that this process is performed both carefully and methodically.

Consequently, it will take approximately 3 weeks for each ring to be manufactured and up to 5 business days for delivery, both in Australia and worldwide.

When the ring is shipped, will it be insured?

Yes. Every piece is insured before it is shipped.

What do I do if the ring is damaged or stolen in transit?

Please follow the directions in our Terms and Conditions section relating to 'Product Warranty'.

How do I know that the valuations provided come from an independent source?

All of our rings are valued by a member of the Australian National Council of Jewelry Valuers (NCJV). All members of the NCJV must undergo accredited training courses and must continue ongoing education to maintain their membership.

If you are concerned about your valuation, the details of the particular member will be displayed on your valuaiton certificate and you can contact the NCJV to discuss the matter if necessary.

We appreciate that our products are not cheap pieces of jewelry and that there is a perceived risk of purchasing goods over the internet. The internet has allowed small business to take place in the global marketplace, and has become one of the most effective means to present products available on a worldwide scale.
